Keppan 血判

Blood oath. Used in some traditional martial arts at the time of a student’s enrollment in a dojo to underscore the seriousness of the trainee’s commitment. Morihei UESHIBA’s name appears in the records of the KASHIMA SHINTO-RYU school with a keppan dated 16 May 1937.
