James Moritaka Nakayama

(b. 26 September 1947). 6th dan Aikikai. Engineer/scientist. B. in Waipahu, Hawaii. Began judo in 1953 under Ryusei Inouye in Los Angeles. First taught aikido by Harry ISHISAKA at the Orange County Aikikai in 1973. Also studied iaido under Shoji NISHIO in 1985. Joined the AIKIDO ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA under Fumio TOYODA in 1991. Appointed Shihandai, AAA Western Regional Director, AAA/AAI National and International Teaching Committee member, Director of the AAI Western Region Test Committee, and the Director of the AAI Western States Black Belt Association (Hakamakai). Teaches seminars for the AAA nationally and the AAI in Europe. Also holds a 3rd dan Zen Nippon Iaido Renmei, and 4th dan Aikido Toho Iai.
