Dang Thong Tri

(b. c. 1930). 6th dan Aikikai. B. Vietnam. Graduate of the Law Faculty, University of Paris, 1952; B. A. , M. A. , California State University, 1971, 1972. Martial arts instructor. Began training in the 1950s in Vietnam and traveled first to France and then the U. S. in the early 1960s where he settled in California. Also an instructor of T’ai-Chi, Pa-Kua, and Hsing-I.   • A great Aikido Sensei! Visited our South San Francisco Aikido Dojo many times. Promoted me to 2nd I have several great photos of Tri Sensei and a cherished samuri sword he presented to my father, Edward Naughton at the South San Francisco Aikido dojl.

      My name is Minh and I am Tri Sensei grand student. My Sensei was his student in Vietnam before the Master left the country in early 60’s. My small group is trying to keep his memory going. If anything you can share, I’d be much in debt.

    • I was a student of Mr Tri I helped with the shading for the pictures of the book called Beyond The Known Mr Tri gave me the book with his stamp and signature it had a picture of me and Mr Tri that was taken on his birthday also a picture of his teacher MO in the book some girl ran off with it. Have you seen my book anywhere or how can I get another picture of me and Mr Tri?
