“Learn what relaxation and ki energy are really about to transform your Aikido!”
Has it ever occurred to you that many aikido masters, starting with the Founder himself, and people like Koichi Tohei, 10th dan, were able to remain relaxed while executing techniques? What if you could learn to control ki energy and stop resorting to physical strength to make your techniques work? Now, visualize yourself as having mastered these skills and you will have taken the first important step to making this a reality in your aikido.

During the course of this week, we will introduce you to the aikido of Shizuo Imaizumi Sensei, one of Koichi Tohei’s finest students. We have prepared for you a number of technical videos from Imaizumi Sensei’s Ki Aikido Course. Each video covers in detail a core aikido technique. In his presentations, Imaizumi Sensei will show you how to relax and blend with your training partner. He will clearly lay out for you the insides and outs of each technique. After watching the videos several times, you will have enough information to start applying these principles to your aikido. With a clear understanding of what works and what doesn’t, you will be able to start honing your skills.
A step-by-step summary of each technique to reinforce important points will accompany each video. These summaries will serve as a quick reference for purposes of review. Please stay with us for the entire week and you will immediately begin to see progress as you incorporate these key principles in your practice.
We begin today with Imaizumi Sensei’s first lesson. The technique is called Tenchinage, aikido’s famous Heaven and Earth throw. Be sure to watch carefully as Sensei demonstrates how to relax, extend ki, coordinate your mind and body, and blend with your partner.
