Has made several trips to Japan including a two-year stay from 1982-1984 practicing mainly at the Shoheijuku Dojo of Mamoru SUGANUMA in Fukuoka. He is currently head of the Norwegian Aikido Federation and runs a dojo in Oslo while serving as technical adviser for various other dojos.
