Ellis Amdur

Graduate of Yale University. Moved to Japan c. 1975 where he studied aikido, Araki Ryu and Toda-ha Buko Ryu. After 13 years in Japan, relocated to Seattle, Washington where he continues to train with a small group of associates. Founded a company called Edgework which provides counseling for child abuse, psychotherapy, and dispute-resolution services. Also instructs law enforcement agencies in hostage negotiation. His writings on martial arts have been published in the Journal of Asian Martial Arts, Furyu, Aikido Journal, and Aikido Today Magazine. Has published a collection of essays on aikido titled Dueling with O-Sensei.
