Josh Gold(b. 20 November 1932). 7th dan Aikikai (January 2001). Former police officer. First began training in 1959 in San Diego, California under Tokuji Hirata. Has taught an accredited aikido course at Stanford University since 1972. One of the main instructors in the San Francisco Bay area and a leader of the California Aikido Association heading Division 2 of that organization. Travels extensively in the U. S. and Europe giving aikido seminars. Interviewed AN#10, 39-40. Operates a large dojo in Redwood City, California.
As I recall, Doran Sensei and I were both drill instructors at MCRD San Diego. He was a SSgt and I was a Sgt. I began studies under SSgt Robert Tann in mid 1958, and at some point, we were both students there at MCRD and worked out together.
