Fumimaro Konoe

(12 October 1891- 16 December 1945). B. Tokyo. Businessman-turned politician and twice prime minister of Japan (1937-39, 1940-41). Formed a coalition government in an effort to reduce the influence of militarists and attempted to reach a reconciliation with the United States. Konoe became a patron of Morihei Ueshiba through his association with Kinya Fujita and Kenji TOMITA. Konoe served on the board of directors of the KOBUKAI FOUNDATION starting in 1940.
