Hidemaru Deguchi

(1897-December 1991). Also, Hidemaro. Born Takami Motoo. Third Alternate Spiritual Leader (Kyoshuho) of the Omoto religion. B. Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture. Attended Kyoto Imperial University. Joined Omoto religion in 1919. Married Naohi Deguchi (Third Alternate Spiritual Leader), eldest daughter of Onisaburo DEGUCHI, in 1928. An administrator of the BUDO SEN’YOKAI and its second director. Imprisoned for four years and tortured in the wake of the SECOND OMOTO INCIDENT. Prolific author on spiritual subjects some of whose works have been translated into English notably In Search of Meaning.
