  • John Gay ran a small Dojo in the top floor of a school in Paddington.4 young friends and I went there in 1966/67 .John Gay was a taxi driver,a couple of the older men were taxi drivers.I think they were brown belts. The Dojo was sponsored by The Variety Club Of Great Britian and had the biggest mat covered floor space in London at the time. Our suits were supplied free.At the time a James Bond film was being made You Only Live Twice .The Ninjas in the film who In real life were martial sense practiced scenes in our Dojo and used us young men as their Guinee pigs. The gave us lessons an before they went home Graded us .I got a green.Packed up Aikido not long after the club moved premises. John later went to Australia.
