Kenji Tomita 富田健治

(1897-1977). Public servant, police official and politician. B. Hyogo Prefecture. Graduate in law of Kyoto University. Entered Ministry of Home Affairs and later served as police official in various locations. Traveled to the U.S. and Europe from the end of 1925-1927. A judo 5th dan who began learning aiki budo from Morihei Ueshiba in 1935 in Osaka. While serving as Osaka Prefectural Police Chief, assisted Ueshiba in escaping arrest at the time of the SECOND OMOTO INCIDENT in December 1935. Served in the Fumimaro Konoe cabinets as Chief Cabinet Secretary through 1941.
