Discovered many types of new fungi and mold and contributed numerous articles in scientific publications. Morihei Ueshiba assisted Minakata around 1909-10 in Tanabe in a protest movement against the shrine consolidation policy of the Meiji government that sought to reorganize and eliminate thousands of shrines throughout Japan.
