The Nakai dojo opened on 19 September 1891. Ueshiba received a MENKYO KAIDEN certificate from Nakai in 1908. Masanosuke Tsuboi, the highest-ranking shihan of the Nakai dojo, may actually have been Ueshiba’s direct instructor since his name also appears on the certificate.
