Masatake Sekiya

(8 October 1917-1 September 1996). 7th dan Aikikai. Attained rank of 2nd dan in judo before World War II. Began aikido c. 1960 through a connection with Nyoichi Sakurazawa, founder of macrobiotics. Trained especially under Seigo YAMAGUCHI and Minoru Inaba. Established the Japan Airlines aikido club. Also, studied Katori Shinto-ryu at the Kawasaki Dojo of Yoshio SUGINO. After retirement, traveled frequently abroad to England and the U.S. [Diane Zingale collaborated on this entry.]
