Yasuaki Deguchi 出口和明

(15 August 1930-18 June 2002). Eldest grandson of Omoto co-founder Onisaburo DEGUCHI. Entered Waseda University in 1952 and completed half his course. Later worked in a variety of occupations. In 1953, using the pen name Ryu Nogami, Deguchi won the second Oruyomimono Best New Detective Story Writer’s award for his debut novel, Kyoto (Outlaw). Later used the pen name Ryu Towada. Became an executive of the Aizenkai, and a chairman of the Reikai Monogatari Kankokai (Institute for the Publication of the Reikai Monogatari). Author of Daichi no Haha (Great Mother), Kami no Katsutetsugaku (The Theology of God), Yogen to Shinwa (Prediction and Mythology), Deguchi Onisaburo no Nyumo Hiwa (Onisaburo’s Adventures in Mongolia), among other works. Wrote a series of background articles on the OMOTO RELIGION and his personal experiences as a child growing up within the sect that appeared in Aiki News #97 through Aikido Journal #112.
